With funding support from the Government of Canada, Prepr launched the Skills for Success for Digital Talent pilot to help build critical human skills in Canada’s growing digital economy.
Between 2022 and 2024, we partnered with employers across the ICT and TMT sectors to pilot a new kind of skills development experience—one that combines real-world application, personalized pathways, and social learning.
Our pilot exceeded its targets supporting:
143 employees enrolled (125 graduates) across 6 cohorts
123 job seekers enrolled (98 graduates) across 4 cohorts
44 employers
Participants didn’t just learn about the skills they needed — they built them by doing, through hands-on challenges and team collaboration.
How We Structure Our Programs
This model delivers a more engaging, practical, and scalable approach to workforce development — helping individuals grow faster and employers build stronger teams.
Our Skills for Success programs are designed around four key principles:
Learn by Doing
Instead of passive learning, participants actively apply skills through real-world business challenges designed around employer needs.
Cohort-Based Virtual Training
Learners participate in structured, instructor-led sessions, peer discussions, and collaborative projects, building both technical and human skills.
Personalized Learning Plans
Each learner begins with a self-assessment and one-on-one consultation to create a Personalized Learning Plan, targeting their unique skill gaps and career goals.
Technology-Enabled Experience
Using Prepr’s Workforce Development Platform, participants access labs, submit challenges, and track growth, creating a seamless, supported learning journey.

Unlike traditional training, Skills for Success for Digital Talent:

Managers Perceive Significant Gain
Employee cohort – increase in skills rating:
One of the components was an individual learning module [. . ..] mine was specifically about numeracy, and the exercises really allowed me to get more comfortable with analytics and numeracy within a marketing context. And now I'm able to use those skills, even in my new role, particularly regarding Google Analytics. I just feel a lot more comfortable with data and managing marketing data and using that to drop real insights

We met with our employee last week to review his training and get his feedback. He has had a wonderful experience and his takeaways are really going to help him in his role.
