We’d like to thank our partners and participants. The Future Sustainability Challenges have concluded, and are now the Sustainable Innovation Labs.
In 2020, Prepr launched the Future Sustainability Challenges; a set of monthly competitions seeking innovations from students which help achieve the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This nation-wide, Canadian initiative commenced on March 14, 2020, in partnership with the Linux Foundation, Wilfrid Laurier University, Colleges and Institutes Canada (CiCan), and Singularity University.
Participants gained access to Prepr’s resource library designed to build both soft and digital skills using Prepr’s P.I.E.® method, an interdisciplinary work-integrated learning approach that helps individuals become T-shaped problem solvers and lifelong learners.
Through this unique initiative, Prepr has committed to support the creation and launch of 100 SDG Learn Labs across Canada over the next four years and to engage 100,000 students.
As of 2021, the Future Sustainability Challenges are now the Sustainable Innovation Labs. These self-guided, project-based learning experiences continue the mission of the Future Sustainability Challenges by providing the tools and resources needed to design solutions for the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals.
The Sustainable Development Goals were originally created in 2015, when Canada and all other United Nations Member States committed to implementing the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, a set of 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) designed to eliminate poverty, protect the planet and ensure prosperity by the year 2030.
Although the Future Sustainability Challenges have concluded, the need to engage, train and upskill students and teams is always ongoing. If you’re looking to to integrate engaging, hands-on learning into your programs, we’d love to work with your organization.
