Lauren oversees workforce development programs and policy for the auto supplier sector, building the first industry-wide digital learning program. Prior to joining APMA, Lauren was a senior advisor at the Law Society of Ontario while instructing communications students at Sheridan College.
Her agency experience at leading public relations agencies set the groundwork for senior roles in the public sector including Director of Communications to the President of the Treasury Board and Minister of Education.
Steven Karpenko has been with the Ministry of Economic Development, Job Creation and Trade as a Senior Advisor since 2017.
Prior to that, Steven worked in the retail, finance and supply chain sectors and has over 20 years of experience as a Project Manager, Strategic Advisor, public speaker and entrepreneur.
More recently, he has worked province-wide researching and communicating product and technology trends in the Automotive sector. Steven is trained in Lean Six Sigma, has an MBA from York University and is a Certified International Trade Professional.
Bassel holds a Master of Engineering and Public Policy (M.E.P.P.) from McMaster University and an M.Eng and B.Eng in Mechanical Engineering from the American University of Beirut.
Bassel is an industrial policy researcher with a focus on automotive vehicle and manufacturing technologies. Prior to joining APRC, Bassel held a research position with the Department of Economics at McMaster University.
Bassel is also a published author in Queen’s Policy Review Journal and Elsevier’s Building and Environment Journal.
