Innovation Meets Education: An Event to Stimulate the Next Wave of EdTech

Prepr Foundation is pleased to announce the first #EduChallenge Innovation event in partnership with Mozilla Foundation will be held November 28-30, 2014 at Mozilla Toronto. The full weekend event brings together educators, developers, designers and business professionals to solve real-world education challenges using technology.

It kicks off Friday night with a panel discussion on the key challenges in education and the role of technology in creating solutions. On Saturday and Sunday participants break into interdisciplinary teams with help from domain experts to develop Education-Technology (EdTech) prototypes. #EduChallenge uses the Prepr PIE Method to facilitate successful innovation – helping teams move from a loosely defined challenge to testing and validating a prototype. As well as providing guidance, the #EduChallenge event gives participants a safe space to experiment and get feedback for their ideas.

The event is made possible through our valued sponsors, including Mozilla Foundation, Cisco, Business Development Bank of Canada, Fasten Martineau, Eosensa, Chagpar and Associates, Nulogy, Panago and University of Toronto (OISE).

This event is part of a larger series that is integrated with the Prepr PIE Program and helps young people develop skills in the areas of PIE: Project Management, Innovation and Entrepreneurship. The Program’s experiential learning approach not only gives participants experience but also awards badges they can showcase on their resumes later while helping them develop soft skills including, creativity, communication, collaboration, and critical thinking. Other upcoming events include the Health Challenge in late January and the Community Challenge in mid-March.
